Ellis Residential & Rehabilitation Center is an 82 bed skilled nursing facility and short term (sub acute ) rehabilitation center located within Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York. We have been providing long term nursing care since 1989 and short stay rehabilitation services since 2001.

We provide 24 hour nursing care for our residents and patients, promoting their dignity, respect, individuality and quality of life. Since it is a hospital-based facility, our residents/patients have immediate access to Ellis Hospital’s comprehensive medical services, including our nationally recognized Stroke Center, and our cardiac care, mental health and emergency medical services. Our location within the hospital is one of the many factors that sets us apart from other local nursing facilities.

Our short-term or sub acute program can best be described as a "stepping stone" between the hospital and returning to your home. Individuals admitted to our sub acute program have been referred by their physician for one or many types of therapy. This can include IV therapy, physical, occupational and speech therapy, wound care and medication adjustments that are necessary for an individual to reach his or her goal to return home.
