best in the Capital Region and is ranked among the top 10%
of hospitals nationwide for Coronary Interventional Procedures
in 2009 by HealthGrades, a leading health care ratings
company.
Ellis has also received the Silver award for heart failure
care by the American Heart Association. Ellis
is recognized for its success in using the Get with the
Guidelines program for improving quality of care and patient
outcomes. Ellis is among 569 hospitals nationwide to be
recognized in a congratulatory message from the American Heart
Association/American Stroke Association in the July 28, 2009
issue of U.S. News & World Report.
Ellis is one of only three programs in the Capital Region
authorized by the New York State Department of Health to perform
cardiac surgery.

deal with complex, life-threatening emergencies or surgical

Catheterization Laboratory Procedures
Ellis has one of the Northeast's highest-volume
catheterization laboratories, performing more than 1,500
procedures each year. Our interventional cardiologists perform:
- Coronary angioplasty insertion of balloons to open
blocked arteries
- Coronary stenting insertion of stents to open blocked
arteries
- Rotablation technique for removing arterial plaque
Electrophysiology Laboratory
If the problem is an irregular heart rhythm, specialists from
our Electrophysiology laboratory one of the first in the region
can provide:
- Pacemakers
- Defibrillators
- Ablations, including atrial fibrillation ablations with
3D mapping
