"Our staff of therapists provide the most cutting edge,
evidence-based care available," Ellis Medicine's Director of
Rehabilitation Services Robert Fleming said. "We strive for excellence
in providing care to you and make continued clinical education and
learning a big focus, as we know that staying abreast of the latest
industry advances and techniques is paramount to success."
Ellis Medicine's Rehabilitation Services combines the expertise of
our Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech - Language
Pathology departments. We offer rehabilitation programs for inpatients,
outpatients and residents of the Ellis Center for Long Term Care, with
specific goals and strategies assigned as follows:
Inpatient Rehabilitation - programs that aim to
improve functional mobility in order to assist in a patient's discharge
from the hospital. Areas of focus include gait, exercise, functional
mobility training and education. Patients from various hospital units
benefit from our inpatient services, including medical/surgical,
orthopedic, neurological (we are a key component of the Stroke Center),
emergency room, cardiac, oncology and pulmonary cases.
Outpatient Rehabilitation - programs that offer
hands-on care and functional progressive exercise for a variety of
musculoskeletal conditions, such as spinal pain, extremity pain,
headaches and difficulty with functioning in everyday life. Areas of
focus include functional capacity evaluations, work hardening/work
conditioning, functional and sport specific training, clinical research
and clinical education. Our outpatient center works closely with the
Headache Center located at Ellis Hospital.
Ellis Residential & Rehabilitation Center -
residents of Ellis Hospital's 82-bed nursing home, Ellis Residential &
Rehabilitation Center, benefit tremendously from our rehabilitation
programs. We work with residents on a regular basis to improve and
maintain function. Additionally, we provide services to individuals in
our short stay rehabilitation program with the goal of discharge home or
to an assisted living facility.
The Rehabilitation Services Department at our McClellan Campus
provides a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services for
individuals experiencing musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction, stroke,
cardiac and pulmonary conditions, diabetes and weakness related to acute
and chronic medical conditions.
